Hi William, I actually really like this, thanks for taking the time to write out a longer response. Re: the details of the article itself, let me chew on those and possibly re-work or break up some of the points for better clarity or a more obvious "so what" answer. I do think there are certain institutional/educational improvements that could be made in how we conduct and communicate science, and I need to think about how to frame them.

Re: the title, it's interesting to hear how it came across. From my end, it came from being on the receiving end of many conversations where someone said to me , "You know, I have an <uncle/wife/friend> that just doesn't 'believe science' or 'trust facts.' How can I get them to stop being idiots?" I always found that condenscending and close-minded. I titled this the way I did as a tongue-in-cheek response to those people- to say, "Yes, I'm just as skeptical of the research I read- and I'd appreciate if you took the time to understand why." If you have any other suggestions on re-naming, I'm all ears- my end goal is to start a conversation and encourage critical thinking, not to be provocative for its own sake.
